PASTOR EMERITUS BENJAMIN GLOVER Pastor Benjamin Glover was born October 12, 1921 on St. Helena Island. He is the loving husband of Mrs. Bertha Glover, whom he married in 1967, and he is also the father of Associate Pastor Benjamin B. Glover and Mary Ann Glover-Mason. The decision was made among several members of the congregation of St. Joseph Baptist Church to break off from the home church to gather themselves unto the Lord and perform evangelistic work under the non-denominational, Christian missionary doctrine, 'We Preach Jesus Christ and Him Crucified' (1 Corinthians 2:2). As one of the founding members of the church, Brother Glover, Sr. was originally installed as the Treasurer of the church, under the leadership of Pastor Cole, on June 13, 1963. He was officially ordained as a Pastor in 1969. The remaining original members of the church were Senior Elder Julius Dennis (organizer), Sister Brown (Secretary), Elder Brown, Pastor Cole's wife and daughter Ida Mae Brown, and of course Pastor Glover. They originally met in the dining hall of what is now Grace and Truth Gospel Chapel. The original building was moved in 1977, and the current church building was erected by Pastor Glover himself in 1978. Pastor Glover became Assistant Pastor shortly after organizing, and became Pastor of the church in 1988 after Pastor Cole stepped down due to illness. Pastor Glover's son, Benjamin B. Glover, began serving as Assistant Pastor between 2000 - 2001, and was officially ordained and installed as Associate Pastor on June 29, 2003. Both men still hold their posts today, now as Pastor and Pastor Emeritus of the church, still on the missionary vision to fulfill the Great Commandments of Jesus Christ, Our Lord & Savior. |
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abiding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." |
